about the artist.

I feel like nature cures so many illnesses of the mind and spirit. I love make art purtaining to wildlife and natural settings. To me this promotes peace. I feel like maybe I belong in the wild with the wild animals, I feel close to them.

I have been an artist since I was very young, winning a few little contests in 6th grade. I drew art for the Idaho Humane society when I was 13 that was published in the news letter. I was always obsessed with drawing animals and working with them. I spent my life rescuing animals domesticated or wild, working with them, and watching them a lot through out my entire life – intensely watching wildlife and studying them. I also went to college to become a wildlife biologist and study natural resources. The wildlife work is where I always want to be. I volunteered to do bird counting with the Malhuer county wildlife biologist in Ontario, Oregon and volunteered at the Forest service in Council, Idaho studying the goshhawk.

I like to make wildlife related art to be able to enjoy the beauty of the wild even indoors...remembering all the beautiful animals and places. Always wanting to be close to the “wild.” I think I see me in the wild animals.

I took 4 years of drawing in high school. I also took a year of graphic design and still desgn professionally very part time. I design business logos, vehicle decals, and simple websites.

I was never giving painting lessons. I did start with charcoal in high school. I also worked at tattoo studios (I have tattooed some) and also did some custom car painting. I still paint cars very part time. I studied auto body technology – and I loved to paint. I was always after school late doing very custom designs and airbrushing.

It seems as though I have done so many types of art.

Recently I have developed a special technique of acrylic wash (3 yrs ago) on canvas also coupled at times with charcoal which is later sealed to canvas. Its a messy process but the realism you can create with charcoal is unreal. I have always wanted to draw on canvas and I've done that. I have studied other artists to learn how to put charcoal on canvas, but some techniques are still learned just by me. The art is sealed well when finished with a 3 stage technique.

I have worked in so many mediums but I like to create large charcoal and acrylic wash pieces right now.

I also suffer from a very debilitating connective tissue disease among many other health issues– and my art keeps me going. It gives me a reason to be here and to make something people can enjoy. I look forward to making art and showing it. It gives me real purpose and deep satisfaction that I can make something. It gives me moments of true happiness I only feel surrounding my art.

I hope you enjoy my art and all the hard work that goes into making art. Thank you.
